How Michael Manasseri Got Started
In the mid-90s Michael was a tech supervisor with a side interest in crafting jewelry. He decided to take some courses in fabrication at a local college, where he learned manufacturing from expert professor Tipton Cummings. Being a practical kind of guy, Michael decided if he could not make a career out of jewelry fabrication he wouldn’t waste his time pursuing it. As it turned out, Michael got the best grades in the class. Michael made jewelry for friends who studied at Carlsad, California’s Gemological Institute of America.
Inlay Artistry
Michael learned inlay work from Master gemologist Scott Harris, who was considered the best inlay artist in the country. Michael ended up showing his first jewelry store employer how to properly do inlay work while he was still in school. On this first job Michael worked on cruise liner jewelry inlayed with opal and gold sea creatures. He taught himself how to carve his own waxes and designs and later worked for 7 years doing inlay work for Sami in Fountain Hills and Giota in Scottsdale. Before Michael started working for them they had to send inlay work overseas.
